Few weeks to the October 10 governorship election, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has endorsed the personality of the PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, of being eminently qualified to lead Ondo state as governor.

While featuring on Arise TV programme and monitored by SUNSHINETRUTH in Akure, Akeredolu said unlike the candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and his deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi, Jegede was well learned to be elected the state governor.

Akeredolu however said that it is not yet time for Jegede to u seat him.

The governor who running for second term on the platform of the APC, lambasted his predecessor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko of betraying him and Jegede.

Akeredolu said, “he (Eyitayo Jegede) is a worthy what I will call adversary, I mean, I don’t see anything wrong with him, somebody who I have a lot of respect for. Eyitayo Jegede is my colleague, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and he is worthy of the office (of the state governor).

“For me, Tayo is a gentleman, good, worthy of the office as I said, I have nothing against him. He is exercising his fundamental (human) right to want to run for this office.

“He is entitled to it and whatever happens at the end of the day as we did last time (in year 2016 election), we remain friends, we will still remain friends because is a friend.

“Look at him (Eyitayo), I can even jump to the issue of (former governor Olusegun) Mimiko, this is a man (Eyitayo) who worked with Mimiko for eight years, Mimiko betrayed him. He has betrayed him now and gone to another person (state deputy governor and ZLP governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi).

“Jegede is a serious minded person, the time is not now, but he is eminently qualified to be a governor unlike people who I know that they are not qualified to be the governor of this state.

“Like the person who talk about ZLP Agboola Ajayi, how, what has he gotten to offer the people of this state, nothing but when it comes to Eyitayo Jegede is eminently qualified, not because is a SAN but because he is learned, he is well read,” Akeredolu said.
