2023: Either Peter Obi or Kwankwaso ‘ll Soon Step Down for me – Atiku

Feb 1, 2023

Before the presidential election on February 25, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said that he is in talks with the candidates for the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, about forming an alliance or getting their support in the election.

Atiku said this in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Tuesday, which our reporter heard.

On the other hand, he said that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso threatened his chances of winning the election on February 25. However, he said he needed their support to improve his chances of winning.

“Although, I see no threat in any of them but we are in talks, and the discussion might yield a positive result that will see one of them coming,” Atiku said.

Atiku said every party has its internal crisis and that the PDP was no different. He also said that his party worked hard to settle every disagreement as soon as possible.

Each party has its internal crisis; we are still talking with them. Most are neither in PDP nor other parties, and that will definitely not make us lose the election because we are okay with the election preparations for now.

“Election now is not like in the past when a governor will dictate who to vote for, election today is in the hands of the voters,” Atiku said.
